Jets are small brass nozzles inside a carburetor that regulate the flow of fuel.

They can be replaced with different sizes for different running situations.

Generally a scooter running at sea level will require larger jets than the same scooter running at a higher altitude, the reason being that air is thinner at higher elevations, thus the fuel needs to be restricted.

The act of regulating gas flow with jets is called "jetting."
