Poker run

Jump to: navigation, search

A Poker run is a type of "competition ride", usually put on as a benefit for something.

All registered riders meet and are given a map with waypoints; an end point and an end time. The exact route is left to each rider. Upon arriving at each waypoint, the rider is asked to draw a playing card from a deck. This card is recorded by ride staff. After riding to as many waypoints as time will allow, the riders meet at the endpoint. There, each riders cards are compared to see who has the best poker hand. Prizes are usually awarded.

Poker runs are a test of riding and navigation skills as well as endurance and luck. With success depending more on skill and luck than on brute force and speed, poker runs allow scooterists to do very well in competition with motorcycles.
