Description | I am trying to buy a 1970 Vespa SS 50 from Germany, and I have a few concerns. It is a 4 year old restoration.
I am not sure if it is an original or a copy. Since it's a rare scooter I don't have anything to compare it with. One question that I have is that this scooter has still the two lower holes for the tire mounting bracket, present in any other small frame.
The other one is that the VIN on the chassis is a grey aluminum German tag near the floor board, brake pedal side, with 6 numbers instead of 4. Not sure if in Germany they re-issue the VIN that way.
Since all the SS vespas were built in Italy as far as I know, should not they have the original stamp on the chassis near the engine compartment?
I will have to go and see the scooter in a couple of weeks...if anyone has any tips on what to look for, I would appreciate it. Thank you! |
