I'm chicken and don't want to be sued Date: 2004-06-29 22:24:48
Comments: Recomend keeping your equipment in sound condition, Pipes do not just slip off. Problem with the U.S., its always someone else falt. I sugget you buy a safe car like a volvo for your next ride or just get up and keep going. anyone can witness the pipe fall off, I've see this happen a dozen times, but in my day we took acontabilty. performace parts are just that. I mashed the first generation PM pipe under my wheel maybe 16 years ago. It was a death trap but what did I do, not buy a PM pipe and moved on.

Also, was it not bolted tightly to your swing arm?

Comments: Okay, here's the scoop.
This was my first rally crash. After ten years, I guess I was over due.
My Simonini (sp?) pipe came loose and it went under my back tire. I began to "ski" until I finally went down. I don't remember the crash itself. Everything went black, then I felt a sharp pain. I think I blacked out for a few seconds, because I remember opening my eyes and seeing people standing around me. I was telling myself to move and I couldn't. Even when I was helped up, I tried talking and no sound would come out. I was in shock... I guess. Scary!
Here's the final tally.
Broken right collar bone.
Bruised right shoulder.
Bruised right ribs.
Bruised right hip.
Right side groin pull.
Shattered right turn signal cover.
Broken crash bar on luggage box.
Deflated ego.
I'm seriously considering filing a lawsuit against Simonini because this is the second time that this happened and a few people told me that the same thing has happened to them. It's the faulty clamp.
If anybody who was riding behind me would like to testify (I remember you, "Oi Oi Skin"), I would really appreciate it. If enough people come forward, it might become a class-action law suit. I just want them to make a better clamp, that's all. Imagine if I had been on the freeway?
E-mail me and let me know if you saw me go down.
Thanx in advance.
Dennis! aka The Lone Vesparado

Comments: Man, I feel for him. I broke my collar bone into three pieces in a scooter crash in high school and the pain was unimagineable. Very sucky. Here's hoping he mends quick.

Comments: That's my cousin, and he has a broken right collar and clavical bone. Didn't know until he had an x-ray done the next day. Says it hurts when he coughs. His pipe came off the manifold and locked his rear wheel, and this was the result.

His pipe came off and locked up his rear wheel.
