Our goal is to end -- not simply manage -- human suffering. OPCC is an independent, community-supported organization in which staff, volunteers and clients work with mutual respect to address the effects of poverty, abuse, neglect and discrimination. The agency"s programs are designed to remove barriers to access the resources individuals need to ensure their survival, end their victimization and improve their quality of life. Founded in 1963, OPCC has grown to become the largest provider of housing and social services on the Westside of Los Angeles County. OPCC clients include at risk youth; people dealing with physical illness, disabilities or severe mental illness; women and children experiencing domestic violence; and Veterans. OPCC tailors services to the needs of each person to help them rebuild their lives. Key services include housing, mental health care, medical care, domestic violence services, substance abuse treatment and assistance in obtaining income --- all aimed at improving the self-sufficiency of the individuals and families served. OPCC provides comprehensive services to those most in need of help. In one year’s time OPCC is able to provide support to over 1,500 unduplicated homeless individuals and 2,500 unduplicated victims of domestic violence. In fact, our programs have been so successful that over the past three years, OPCC has placed 996 people into permanent housing, 95% of whom remain housed |
