Details: TEMECULA / WINE COUNTRY SCOOTER RIDE
DATE: Sunday, June 8th, 2003
Ride leaves Temecula @ 12 noon. Try and get to the meeting spot by 11:30am.
Meeting place:
Exit I-15 at Winchester, head west over Jefferson Street. Cross Jefferson and proceed west to "Enterprise Circle South" (The first light AFTER you've crossed Jefferson) Turn left on Enterprise Circle South. If you come to Diaz road, you've gone a little too far.

Take the immediate FIRST driveway on your right, which you'll see as you're turning left. Pull in there, there's ample parking for your cars, trucks etc. We can begin and end our ride from there. I'll be there about 11 am, let's TRY to ride out about noon.

The ride:
We'll head east out Winchester towards Hemet (ahh...Hemet !) and turn on Benton road towards Lake Skinner, and Temecula's Wine country. We'll encounter some traffic coming the opposite way towards the annual Ballon and Wine Festival held at Lake Skinner as we wind our way through Temecula's scenic wine country.

We should stop at one of the wineries along the way for a pit-stop. Wilson Creek is nice, but Maurice Carries' winery (the one with the old windmill) has free wine samples AND a baked Brie (not free) for those who are hungry then. The Brie is amazing IF you like that sort of thing....also, there's usually lots of vendor tents set-up on the weekends there selling this and that. Mostly gourmet-ish items, and the like. Pretty eclectic.

We will head west again through the rest of wine country, towards Hwy 79 south, where we'll wind our way up Rainbow Canyon towards Old 395 where we'll aim towards coastal Bonsall, Fallbrook and make a pit stop somewhere around there.

Back to Temecula via DeLuz, the coastal Avocado/orange growing area between Temecula and Camp Pendleton. Very scenic, and nice riding.

We'll can wrap-up on Temecula's Old Town front street, where there's numerous beer gardens, and Mad Madelines, a favorite Harley hangout....because the burgers are incredible and the beer is quite icy. Also, Temecula's Old Town smoke shop has a nice humidor for the aficionados in the group. We'll be about 2 miles from our beginning point there.
